| Safe installation and system integration |
For indoor, built-in equipment and pollution-degree-2 environments. Disconnect the supply and prevent accidental reconnection before installation, maintenance or modification. Qualified technicians must investigate failures; do not remove the case yourself or connect primary and secondary circuits together. Connect FG / PE to protective earth, protect openings from foreign objects and dripping liquids, and avoid moisture, water and hot surfaces. The system integrator is responsible for the complete system. |
| Vertical DIN rail installation |
Mount vertically with input terminals down and output terminals up; upside-down, horizontal and tabletop mounting are not permitted. For TS35/7.5 or TS35/15 rail, tilt the unit rearward, fit it over the top edge, slide down to the stop, press the bottom until it locks, then check the latch by gently moving the unit. Cooling is by natural air convection. |
| Ventilation and adjacent heat sources |
Allow 40 mm above, 20 mm below and 5 mm at each side. The 2025-05-29 installation manual requires 10–15 cm clearance from an adjacent heat source, whereas the main datasheet note gives 15 mm. Allow the larger manual clearance for the installation and confirm the final thermal layout with MEAN WELL; apply the model-specific load curves and altitude derating. |
| Copper conductors and load distribution |
Use copper conductors and connectors, with insulation rated at least 80°C, such as UL1007/1015. The manual recommends 18 / 16 / 14 / 12 AWG for equipment currents of 7 / 10 / 15 / 20 A, paired with 0.8 / 1.3 / 2.1 / 3.3 mm². With five or more wires connected, reduce each wire's suggested current to 80%. Insert all strands, secure the terminals and wire every output contact to distribute current. These are manual recommendations; also observe the selected model's terminal capacities. |
| Terminal preparation and document scope |
Use the model-specific stripping lengths and separate DC and AC DC OK relay-contact ratings stated above. The manual's generic 5 mm strip length and 30 V / 1 A contact summary do not replace the mechanical-table lengths or the separate 30 V DC / 1 A and 30 V AC / 0.5 A resistive limits. For the standard blank screw-terminal type, the manual specifies 5.8 kgf·cm (5 lb-in) and recommends a 3 mm slotted screwdriver. LA lever-actuated and PI push-in are optional terminal categories; confirm the complete ordering code and supplied hardware before selecting an alternative. |
| Fuse and qualified service |
The installation manual lists T4A/L250V for XDR-120E. For continued fire protection, qualified service must use the same fuse type and rating. This reference does not authorize opening or servicing an energized unit. |
| Document-specific operating limits |
Use the selected model's main-datasheet input range, output ratings, temperature curve and standard-specific OVC / altitude limits. The 2025-05-29 manual also contains nominal input-label information and broader OVC wording; these do not extend the main specification. The English instructions permit derated operation to 70°C, while the shorter French temperature sentence mentions 50°C; the main load curve gives the applicable output limit. |
| Complete-system EMC verification |
Verify EMC with the power supply installed in the final equipment and connected to a representative load. Wiring, assembly and the application affect the result. Follow the selected model's EMC conditions; component-level test results and the linked EMI testing guidance do not certify the finished equipment. |
