Model and electrical specifications

Model and configuration MS-75O; MEAN WELL MP series. MS-75 (75 W family designation); 1-slot single-output module. The family name does not replace the exact selected-model power below. Main catalog revision: 2024-09-04.
Rated output 15 V DC; 5 A rated current; current range 0–5 A; 75 W rated output power as listed for this exact model.
Peak output current 5.8 A peak load. Maximum 35% duty cycle within every 10 seconds; average output power must not exceed the selected rated power. This is not a continuous-current rating.
Output voltage adjustment 13.2–16.8 V DC; retain the selected current and power limits.
Ripple and noise 150 mVp-p maximum, measured at 20 MHz bandwidth using a 12-inch twisted pair terminated with 0.1 µF and 47 µF capacitors in parallel.
Voltage tolerance ±1.0%, including setup tolerance, line regulation and load regulation.
Line and load regulation Line regulation ±0.3%; load regulation ±0.5%.
Setup, rise and hold-up time 1500 ms setup, 50 ms rise and 20 ms hold-up at full load. System Note 1 gives 20 ms typical hold-up for its specified module combinations; use the assembled configuration when assessing system hold-up.
Input and system boundary This output module operates in an MP front-end system; it is not a standalone AC-input power supply. The PFC front end accepts 85–264 V AC / 120–370 V DC, 47–63 Hz and provides active PFC. Choose the actual front end and module mix to satisfy all system and output limits.
MP platform feature scope The MP platform supports configurable output combinations. Its PFC front end provides active PFC compliant with EN61000-3-2 and a 12 V / 0.1 A auxiliary supply only for remote ON/OFF control. MS single-output modules provide constant-current limiting and remote sense; individual output modules provide remote inhibit. Parallel operation is available for MS-210, MS-300 and MS-360; margin control is available only for MS-210 and MS-360. These are family-specific system capabilities, not functions attributed to every installed module.

Control and protection

Module remote inhibit +RC/−RC: 0–0.8 V or open = module ON; 4–12 V = module OFF. This controls the individual module. The PFC system CN4 instead requires a low level or short for ON and is OFF when open.
Overload protection 116–150% of rated output power; constant-current limiting with automatic recovery after the fault is removed.
Overvoltage protection 16.9–22 V. Output shutdown; re-power on to recover.
System protection and cooling boundary The MP system lists short-circuit protection and uses a built-in DC fan with fan alarm. System overtemperature shuts down outputs with automatic recovery after cooling; fan malfunction also shuts down outputs. These are assembled-system functions, not a separate fan or auxiliary supply built into this output module.
Remote sense Built-in +S and −S remote-sense function; use the selected connector pinout below and the dedicated manual’s sensing-wire guidance.

Operating environment and system derating

System operating environment MP assembled-system working temperature: −20°C to +70°C with derating; humidity 20–90% RH, non-condensing. Storage: −40°C to +85°C, 10–95% RH, non-condensing.
Ambient-temperature power curve For horizontal installation, the curve permits 100% rated power from −20°C through +50°C, decreasing to 50% at +70°C. Apply the input-voltage derating simultaneously.
Input-voltage power curve At 60 Hz: 85% rated power at 85 V AC; 90% at 90 V AC; 100% from 100 to 264 V AC. Follow the intermediate curve and the temperature limit together.
High-altitude derating For MP fan-cooled systems operating above 2000 m, reduce the allowable ambient temperature by an additional 5°C per 1000 m. Note 7 separately gives 3.5°C per 1000 m for fanless models; that fanless condition does not replace the MP fan-system requirement.
Temperature coefficient and vibration System temperature coefficient ±0.03%/°C over 0°C to +50°C. Vibration: 10–500 Hz, 2 G, 10 minutes per cycle; 60 minutes each along X, Y and Z axes.

Mechanical dimensions and connections

Module mechanical dimensions Module board drawing: 138 × 60 mm. Thickness reference 21 mm maximum; output-end projection 16 mm maximum and rear local projection 3 mm maximum. Dimensions are in mm; use the module drawing on PDF page 5 for connector orientation and clearances.
Output terminals and adjustment +V and −V terminals; M4 screws with maximum mounting torque 18 kgf·cm. SVR1 adjusts output voltage.
Control connector pinout CN51: Pin 1 +S; pin 2 −S; pin 3 +RC; pin 4 −RC. JST B4B-XH or equivalent; mating housing JST XHP and contact JST SXH-001T-P0.6 or equivalent. Identify pins using the source drawing orientation.
Manufacturer warranty The MP series feature page states a 3-year manufacturer warranty.

Installation and system verification

Authorized assembly and power budgeting MP module assembly is restricted to factories certified by a safety agency and authorized by MEAN WELL in advance. Check the configured unit’s safety label. Keep the combined power actually used by all installed modules below the PFC front-end rating and within every selected module’s limits; available slots alone do not establish an allowable load.
Ventilation and mechanical support Keep cooling-fan vents unobstructed, with the manual’s recommended 10 cm clearance around the vents. Support the power supply with a suitable rack and use the mounting-hole arrangement shown; do not leave it cantilevered without adequate support. M4 mounting screws must penetrate the case by less than 6 mm; the drawing marks L = 6 mm maximum. This is insertion depth, not the overall screw length.
Input switching and restart Select any external input switch for a current rating greater than the system’s maximum inrush current. The manual recommends at least 10 seconds between power-off and restart so that the thermistor can cool; a warm restart can produce greater inrush. Apply input-voltage and ambient-temperature derating together.
Protection and servicing Use the selected module’s exact protection thresholds and recovery modes stated above. After overvoltage shutdown, remove the cause and allow 10 seconds with AC off before restarting. For overheating, the manual instructs the user to disconnect AC, remove the cause and cool the unit for approximately 10 minutes to 1 hour before restart; this service procedure is separate from automatic thermal-protection recovery. Fan lock, a broken fan wire or a loose connector shuts down all module outputs: disconnect AC and contact MEAN WELL or its distributor for repair.
Remote-sense wiring Use twisted or shielded remote-sense wires. If sensing is unused, either short +S to +V and −S to −V at the output, or leave both sense terminals unconnected. Keep output-wire voltage drop below 0.5 V and use adequately rated conductors with secure connections. Long sensing wires may require the C1/C2/C3 noise-filter arrangement shown in the manual; component values are application-dependent and should be confirmed with MEAN WELL.
Series-connection limits The manual’s series-operation section covers MS-75, MS-150, MS-210, MS-300 and MS-360. Use modules of the same wattage in adjacent slots; series current must not exceed the lowest current rating in the string. Different output rise times can cause a stepped startup. Keep the resulting output below 60 V DC as required by this procedure, and confirm the complete assembled configuration.
Complete-system EMC verification Install the component power supply in the intended final equipment and verify the complete system with representative loads, wiring and assembly. The datasheet’s EMC tests use a 720 × 360 mm metal plate, 1 mm thick; changes to the installation can affect results. The linked laboratory guidance does not grant finished-equipment certification or prescribe its example 40/80 cm laboratory geometry as product mounting clearances.
