| Authorized assembly and power budgeting |
MP module assembly is restricted to factories certified by a safety agency and authorized by MEAN WELL in advance. Check the configured unit’s safety label. Keep the combined power actually used by all installed modules below the PFC front-end rating and within every selected module’s limits; available slots alone do not establish an allowable load. |
| Ventilation and mechanical support |
Keep cooling-fan vents unobstructed, with the manual’s recommended 10 cm clearance around the vents. Support the power supply with a suitable rack and use the mounting-hole arrangement shown; do not leave it cantilevered without adequate support. M4 mounting screws must penetrate the case by less than 6 mm; the drawing marks L = 6 mm maximum. This is insertion depth, not the overall screw length. |
| Input switching and restart |
Select any external input switch for a current rating greater than the system’s maximum inrush current. The manual recommends at least 10 seconds between power-off and restart so that the thermistor can cool; a warm restart can produce greater inrush. Apply input-voltage and ambient-temperature derating together. |
| Protection and servicing |
Use the selected module’s exact protection thresholds and recovery modes stated above. After overvoltage shutdown, remove the cause and allow 10 seconds with AC off before restarting. For overheating, the manual instructs the user to disconnect AC, remove the cause and cool the unit for approximately 10 minutes to 1 hour before restart; this service procedure is separate from automatic thermal-protection recovery. Fan lock, a broken fan wire or a loose connector shuts down all module outputs: disconnect AC and contact MEAN WELL or its distributor for repair. |
| Remote-sense wiring |
Use twisted or shielded remote-sense wires. If sensing is unused, either short +S to +V and −S to −V at the output, or leave both sense terminals unconnected. Keep output-wire voltage drop below 0.5 V and use adequately rated conductors with secure connections. Long sensing wires may require the C1/C2/C3 noise-filter arrangement shown in the manual; component values are application-dependent and should be confirmed with MEAN WELL. |
| Series-connection limits |
The manual’s series-operation section covers MS-75, MS-150, MS-210, MS-300 and MS-360. Use modules of the same wattage in adjacent slots; series current must not exceed the lowest current rating in the string. Different output rise times can cause a stepped startup. Keep the resulting output below 60 V DC as required by this procedure, and confirm the complete assembled configuration. |
| Parallel wiring precautions |
Use compatible same-output modules in adjacent slots of one power supply. Adjust the voltage difference to below 2% before paralleling; limit combined output to 90% of the sum of the participating rated currents. Wire the outputs together before attaching the load, and parallel +S, −S, CS and G as shown. Do all parallel wiring with power off; these modules are not hot-swappable. Margin and voltage programming must not be used during parallel operation. |
| Complete-system EMC verification |
Install the component power supply in the intended final equipment and verify the complete system with representative loads, wiring and assembly. The datasheet’s EMC tests use a 720 × 360 mm metal plate, 1 mm thick; changes to the installation can affect results. The linked laboratory guidance does not grant finished-equipment certification or prescribe its example 40/80 cm laboratory geometry as product mounting clearances. |
